While we are extinguishing natural species, we are also creating new ones through genetic engineering. They are used for cropping, breeding of animals and medicine and bring a lot of benefits but also bring about new risks. Although there is no evidence indicating genetically modified foods are unsafe, there are signs that the genes from modified plants can leak out and find their way into other species. New species can cross with traditional ones, disrupting the ecosystem, altered microbes can turn into deadly virus.
